A touching and beautiful story! This unique retelling of Beauty and the Beast has so much heart, you can tell how much the author loved the story. But this is not your children’s Beauty and the Beast, this is dark and dangerous and magical. The ending of this story was not what I expected and left me with a feeling of longing and incompleteness that was so strangely reminiscent of the novel’s theme that I have to believe it was intentional (and masterfully done)! So my hats off to the author for being able to evoke an emotion in the reader that breeds empathy for the characters.
This book is not for everyone, it doesn’t follow your traditional story troupes and will leave you feeling a bit conflicted as you turn the final page. But if you like fairy tale retellings and novels that are different and beautiful and poignant, then this one if for you.
