Beautifully written and masterfully told. I love when an author can weave a story so thoroughly to make you believe one thing, and then twist it around and make you re-examine everything you’d assumed and thought you knew about the story. And amazingly the pieces all fit, and somehow better than they did before, and you wonder how you didn’t see it in the first place. That is genius storytelling, and I applaud Mary E. Pearson for that!
The world was colorful and imaginative. The characters mysterious and deep. While there were definitely some predictable moments, but there were also moments that left me floored and elicited more emotion than I expected. All in all a wonderful fantasy novel. I look forward to reading more.
